The composition consists of two parts. On the search for ways of making the symphony orchestra sound rather monochromatic (I´m fond of monochromatic solutions), I took the title of the first one from a sort of obscure orchestration manual, whose straightforwardness felt both amusing and disarming ("… this is how you get the classical blend"). Despite the title there is nothing ironic about the music itself which is, apart from other things, a study of the major third. The second part was written around Christmas 2014 and I find it in some way related to the atmosphere of those windy weeks ("atmosphere" meant literally – once at a small university somebody will write a nice diploma work on the influence of weather on my composing, and I will have the feeling that I have not lived in vain). The title Weihnachtsoratorium was used by the photographer Ivan Pinkava for one of his works, and it is from there (and from nowhere else) that I borrowed it – led by associations that are partially obvious but partially mysterious even for myself.

Skladba má dvě části. Při hledání způsobů, jak docílit spíše monochromatického zvuku symfonického orchestru (mám monochromatické intstrumentace rád), jsem název té první nalezl v jedné poněkud obskurní instrumentační příručce, jejíž přímočarost mi přišla zábavná i odzbrojující ("… this is how you get the classical blend", stálo tam). Na hudbě samotné není, navzdory pojmenování, cokoli ironického, kromě jiného jde o jakousi studii velké tercie. Druhá část vznikala okolo Vánoc roku 2014 a zdá se mi být nějak spřízněná s atmosférou těch větrných týdnů (tedy atmosférou doslova – jednou někdo na nějaké malé univerzitě napíše hezkou diplomku o vlivu počasí na mé skládání a já budu mít pocit, že jsem nežil zbytečně). Název Weihnachtsoratorium použil Ivan Pinkava pro jednu ze svých fotografií, a odtud (ne odjinud) jsem si jej vypůjčil já – veden asociacemi, které jsou částečně zřejmé, částečně však záhadné i mně samotnému.
